News MediaMarch 24th, 2004: Carole Herdegen of TravelSITE.Com to compete in GreatEscape2004Troy, MI.... TravelSITE.com has announced that Carole Herdegen has been selected to participate in GreatEscape2004: The Global Scavenger Hunt. Carole is a travel writer, photographer, speaker, broadcast journalist and editor of TravelSITE.com, a website devoted to travel products, articles and information. For three-weeks between April 16th and May 9th, 25 teams of two people each will be competing in this annual around-the-world travel adventure competition to win the coveted crown of "The World’s Greatest Travelers". Competitors will have to search out and unscramble unique and unusual cultural clues, riddles and challenges in unanticipated destinations crossing four continents and more than ten countries. Travelers from more than thirty nations have applied to compete in this challenging international event. Not for the novice, the journey requires experienced and seasoned global travelers knowledgeable in interfacing with a variety of peoples and displaying ability to compete and overcome cultural barriers as well as natural and man-made obstacles. In fact, by the finish of the competition, the teams will have collectively amassed more than one million miles of travel by camel, elephants, ox-carts, feluccas, dhows, rickshaws, and planes, walking, bicycling and boating. ABOUT GREATESCAP FOUNDATION A 501(c)(3) California tax-exempt non-profit corporation, GreatEscape Foundation is a global charitable organization and sponsor of this fifth international annual event and will disburse contributions directly to international charities such as Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF, International Special Olympics, CARE, Habitat for Humanity International, Mercy Corps and the World Monuments Fund.
