TravelSITE Inc. Announces Launch of www.travelsite.com


Troy, MI/Orlando, FL- To address a growing demand for web sites providing information to the North American family travel market, Travelsite. Inc. presents the launch of its corporate web site at www.travelsite.com. The site was developed by Troy, Michigan based Media Genesis with industry partners such as Universal Map Enterprises, Inc. to provide industry expertise in warehousing and mapping products and Contus Corporation to provide online travel reservation services.

The company was first established in 2000 following a four-month market analysis commissioned by Universal Map through Media Genesis. "After reviewing hundreds of sites within the travel and family market, a fact became abundantly clear: both the family market and travel market had very strong presences, but no single site offered a wide range of services exclusively to family travelers," said managing partner Kristine Buyers.

To establish market leadership, the site is filling a gap by providing travel reservations and booking, as well as an extensive library of map and travel products for the family travel market. In addition, a strong editorial content base and a community segment are essential to become a destination site for this most attractive demographic group. The initial site focus is very targeted-specifically the North American family travel market-but plans are in place to grow to other vertical markets.

Building a web business in the spring 2000 debacle of the dot.coms also proved very useful to shape the site’s revenue models. In the light of large numbers of failed dot.coms, TravelSITE.com is based as a web business, with many "legs" - many diverse revenue streams.

"We’ve just seen too many dot.coms whose only interest is the exit strategy. Our interest is not generating a quick dollar on the good faith of the investing public. Rather, we’re seeking to create a site that has real value for the users" stated Don Reeder, Travelsite Inc. president. The site has five independent streams of revenue through:

  • Advertising
  • Sponsorships
  • Co-branded sites
  • Travel product sales (providing the largest family travel store of its kind)
  • Online bookings and reservation services
"We feel our mix of revenues will prove more effective than a single-stream revenue model, one of the basic flaws of so many dot.coms. Indeed the killer app is the business designed for the web built by established organizations that know how to turn a profit," explained managing partner Antoine Dubeauclard.
